Aside from being frugal, hardworking, and respectful, one of the most notable characteristics of Ilocanos is that of being a traveler. From that narrow strip of land facing China Sea, they went west to the more fertile plains of Cagayan Valley (where I was born, and grew up), down south in Mindanao, or even to the plantations of Hawaii ( the first Sakadas are Ilocanos) .
Point is, it is our nature to travel, to explore new places (i-justify ba ang pagiging lakwatsero, hahaha). Only difference is that my ancestors did it for survival ( they needed to find more fertile ground, literal and figuratively, while I, ehehe, mainly for leisure.
But who knows, the Philippine soil can no longer sustain the seedling, it needs to be transplanted. :D
Anyhow, here's my travel score:

My Lakbayan grade is C-!
